Hi, y’all! My name is David Medley owner and operator of Dam Transport LLC. I was asked by a friend, Everette Madison to do a testimony for him, so here we go.

I had first seen Everette doing one of his YouTube videos. They caught my interest, so I started watching all of them. I had watched for about two or three hours one night and in one of the videos, he had advertised his phone number in his email.

I had sent Everette a text message and an email, not sure which one he would respond to first if he responded at all. About 10 to 15 minutes later I received a text message and an email. Both explained that I was thinking about getting my authority and running under my own authority. He says: "David don’t think about it just do it because if you think about it you can think yourself right out of doing it and then you won’t do it".

So that night I got on the computer and went to the FMCSA website, searching for how to fill out the forms for my authority and DOT number. Before you start filling it out it tells you what it will cost. So I started feeling these forms. It took 3 or 4 hours. I, finally, got it done and proceeded to the end to check out. My total appeared higher than what the FMCSA price sheet said. So I went back through it several times and I could not figure out why. I decided to send Everette Madison a text message where I explained what I was doing and the problem I encountered.

Instead of just texting me, he called back (mind you by now it’s roughly around 4 a.m.). We talked for a minute or two, he asked me a few questions and then we decided to go back to the beginning. I read him the questions and the answers so he knew where I was at. It turns out that I had answered a couple of those questions wrong, so he fixed that for me and we've got the price down to where it was supposed to be.

I reached out to Everette Madison multiple times with various questions and concerns and he always helped to resolve the situation or explained what I need to do. When I got my authority and was on my own I thought $2.50 a mile was good money. Coming from working for companies as a company driver and then doing lease purchases, I didn't know any different, because that’s what most companies move freight for.

One day Everette called me and asked how I’m doing. I told him "Oh man I’m doing great now, I just booked this load for $2.75 a mile", "$2.75 a mile?" he asked. I said, "Yes, that’s good money!". He said, "Man, you can get rates better than that". I’ve been trying that before but these brokers did not budge. Everette gave me a couple of chips, one of which was Lane honey. He explained that I got to fight for better rates because nobody else gonna do it for me.

By now it's roughly 5 months in running my own authority and I remember it like it was yesterday. I delivered to Walmart in Ohio and so I proceeded to get back on the Load Board. By now I’m using a lot more load boards than I was because Everette Madison told me: "There are a lot more load boards than what you’re using, and some of them are even free".

I downloaded the app called Uber Freight, got it all set up, and sent my insurance to them. It took about a day or two and then they gave me a go. I saw this load out of Ohio. I figured out how many loaded miles and empty miles it was from my current location and put my bid in for $5.01 a mile. I waited for a few minutes for them to respond and they accepted my bid. I could not believe that I actually grabbed a load for that amount of money. Exactly as Everette had told me — "You have to fight for the higher rates, they are out there, you just gotta know how to get them". And that’s what I did. From that point on it’s been over a year and a half now that I’ve been getting rates at $5.00 a mile or more.
